Category Buyer

About the role

Our client, an international manufacturing company, is seeking a driven Category Buyer to manage high‑volume, fast‑moving product streams. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure product availability, support sales growth, and improve margins.

Key responsibilities

• Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company processes.
• Resolve pricing, quantity, overdue PO, and quality issues promptly, escalating when necessary.
• Maintain up‑to‑date product, supplier, pricing, and lead‑time data in relevant systems.
• Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Customer Service, Warehouse and Compliance to provide pricing, supply, and delivery information.
• Develop and implement category strategies to deliver best value, balancing quality, service, and cost.
• Lead supplier agreement creation, ensuring optimal product quality and strong margins.
• Analyse spend and supplier performance, driving procurement projects and category development initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in category buying or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
• Effective communication skills to work with cross‑functional teams.
