Category Manager – Global Distribution Business

About the role

The Category Manager will lead the strategic direction of product categories for a global distribution business. You will work across multiple functions to ensure product availability, optimise inventory, and drive commercial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies that increase sales, margin and overall commercial results.
• Lead supplier relationships, negotiate contracts and deliver cost‑saving initiatives.
• Manage inventory and stock planning to balance availability with minimising excess and obsolete stock.
• Analyse market, sales and forecast data to support commercial and operational decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement in supply‑chain processes, supplier performance and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to achieve business objectives and support growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience in category management, purchasing or procurement.
• Strong negotiation and supplier‑management capabilities.
• Excellent analytical ability and confidence working with data.
• Understanding of stock management and multi‑site operational environments.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Commercially minded, strategic thinker with a proactive problem‑solving approach.
