Category Manager – Procurement & Supply Chain

About the role

Biffa is seeking an ambitious Category Manager to drive its procurement and supply chain transformation. You will own key spend categories, develop multi‑year strategies and deliver measurable cost, risk and sustainability improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end tendering, negotiation and contract award processes for assigned categories.
• Achieve annual savings targets while enhancing supplier quality and delivery performance.
• Develop and execute category strategies that reduce cost, mitigate risk and foster innovation.
• Manage sustainability requirements, supporting Science‑Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and ensure compliance with procurement policies and systems.

Required profile

• 5+ years of strategic procurement experience within a category‑management model.
• Degree‑educated, CIPS qualification desirable.
• Proven track record of running complex, multi‑stakeholder tenders.
• Strong negotiation skills and confidence influencing in matrix organisations.
• Proactive, resilient mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of logistics and supply‑chain operations; waste‑industry experience is a plus.
