Catering Assistant – Café (Flexible Hours)

About the role

GLL is seeking a friendly and reliable Catering Assistant to work in the café at The Sands Centre in Carlisle. The role is permanent, part‑time (20 hours per week) and offers flexible scheduling.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome visitors and provide a courteous service.
• Prepare, serve and deliver food and beverages.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety, and comply with food safety legislation.
• Handle card payments and cash transactions accurately.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions and follow all operating procedures.
• Support the smooth operation of the café and assist with set‑up and clean‑up tasks.

Required profile

• Ability to work as part of a team and deliver excellent customer care.
• Good multi‑tasking skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to follow normal and emergency operating procedures.
• Commitment to ongoing training and performance assessment.

Required skills

• Basic food preparation.
• Cash handling and card payment processing.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
