Catering Manager – Term‑time Cover in The Wirral

About the role

Academics is seeking an experienced Catering Manager to provide long‑term, term‑time cover for a secondary school in The Wirral. You will lead a busy kitchen, ensuring nutritious meals are delivered safely and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the catering service and manage a diverse kitchen team.
• Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality, nutritionally balanced menus.
• Maintain strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, COSHH and health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Prioritise service during peak lunch periods and use IT systems for stock control and basic administration.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Catering Manager or Head Chef, preferably in a school or high‑volume catering environment.
• Basic qualifications in English and Maths (essential) and relevant culinary qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3, Food Hygiene, COSHH) desirable.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to commute to or reside in The Wirral.

Required skills

• Basic IT systems for stock control.
• Use of stock control software.
