Challenging Behaviour Teaching Assistant

About the role

This position supports children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in schools across Crewe. It blends classroom assistance with pastoral support, offering shorter shifts and no overnight duties. You will work closely with teachers to create a safe, engaging learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and maintaining a focused learning atmosphere.
• Monitor and manage challenging behaviours, using de‑escalation techniques.
• Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and social interaction skills.
• Provide pastoral care, ensuring each child feels safe and valued.
• Collaborate with school staff to implement individualized behaviour plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with young people who have SEMH, autism, ADHD or similar needs.
• Ability to hold student attention and communicate effectively in difficult situations.
• Commitment to fostering emotional regulation and personal growth for pupils.
