Children's Qualified Social Worker – Assessment (Temporary)

About the role

Our client Pembrokeshire County Council is seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join the Child Care Assessment Team in Fishguard. The role is temporary full‑time and focuses on assessing the needs of children and families under the Social Services and Well‑Being (Wales) Act 2014.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out statutory assessments within required timescales.
• Investigate child protection concerns and manage associated caseloads.
• Handle court cases and work on higher‑need child‑in‑need cases, including exploitation concerns.
• Participate in the S.47 Joint Inspection rota, providing daily coverage alongside another social worker.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker registered with the appropriate regulatory body.
• Experience in child protection, assessment and case management.
• Ability to meet statutory deadlines and work within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Social Services and Well‑Being (Wales) Act 2014 and related codes of practice.
• Strong assessment and investigative skills.
