Children's Residential Support Worker – Full-Time

About the role

We are seeking compassionate individuals to join a 5‑bed mixed‑gender children’s residential home in Thaxted, Essex. The full‑time Residential Support Worker will care for young people aged 8‑18 with learning disabilities, helping them develop independence and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver person‑centred care, supporting daily routines, personal hygiene, education and social activities.
• Promote independence, positive behaviour and emotional resilience.
• Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and regulatory standards.
• Assist young people with community outings, appointments and extracurricular activities.
• Work collaboratively with a dedicated care team.

Required profile

• Age 22 or older and hold a full UK manual driving licence for at least two years.
• Right to work in the UK and a reliable, flexible approach to shift patterns.
• Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to safeguarding children.

Required skills

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience or willingness to work with children with learning disabilities, autism or sensory needs.
• Knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies.
