Children's Residential Team Leader

About the role

Do you see yourself leading a dedicated team that helps children and young people build brighter futures? This role supports Residential Practitioners in delivering trauma-informed care within Southwark’s new Children’s Residential Homes Service. You will help create a safe, nurturing, child-centred environment where vulnerable children can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and supervision to a team of Residential Practitioners.
• Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, child-centred home environment.
• Support children and young people to develop resilience, independence and positive life skills.
• Ensure high standards of care are delivered in line with individual care plans.
• Promote trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support approaches.
• Build effective relationships with children, families and partner agencies.
• Assist the Registered Manager with home operation and service delivery.
• Monitor practice standards and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Experience working with children and young people in a residential childcare or similar setting.
• Experience supervising, leading or mentoring staff teams.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, child development and trauma-informed practice.
• Essential qualifications: QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare and QCF Level 4 Children Young People and Family Practitioner Diploma (or equivalent).
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends, and to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
