Children's Social Worker – Fostering

About the role
Our client, a Merseyside council, is looking for a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join their fostering team in Liverpool. The role offers a competitive rate of £40 per hour and involves delivering high‑quality assessments and support to fostering families.
Key responsibilities
- Complete a range of fostering assessments, including Connected Carer (Form K), Mainstream Fostering (Form F), Regulation 24, viabilities and initial visits, meeting statutory timescales.
- Carry out evidence‑based assessments that evaluate suitability, safeguarding, support needs and carers’ capacity.
- Participate in the fostering service duty rota, respond to queries and provide advice to ensure effective day‑to‑day service delivery.
- Support mainstream fostering recruitment, from initial engagement to early‑stage guidance for prospective carers.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies and fostering households to promote high‑quality care and positive outcomes for children.
- Maintain accurate case records, reports and assessment documentation in line with statutory guidance and service procedures.
- Contribute to team discussions, quality assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives for the fostering service.
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum three years’ experience working as a qualified social worker.
Required skills
- Knowledge of fostering assessment frameworks and statutory regulations.
- Ability to produce high‑quality written reports and maintain detailed case records.
- Strong collaborative skills for working with partner agencies and fostering families.
