Children's Team Manager – Fostering

About the role

Our client, a Greater Manchester council, is looking for an experienced Children’s Team Manager to lead their fostering service. You will oversee a team of Supervising Social Workers, ensuring high‑quality support for foster carers and positive outcomes for children in care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and support a team of Supervising Social Workers within the fostering service.
• Provide supervision, performance management and professional development for team members.
• Ensure foster carers receive high‑quality guidance, regular supervision and timely assessments.
• Oversee foster carer assessments, approvals, reviews and annual evaluations.
• Maintain compliance with fostering regulations, national minimum standards and safeguarding procedures.
• Manage complex cases, conduct risk assessments and support decision‑making.
• Monitor team performance, quality assurance and service delivery targets.
• Collaborate with children’s social care teams, partner agencies and fostering panels.
• Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years’ experience working as a qualified social worker.
