Civil Works Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Works Supervisor to join our public grounds scheme in Leeds. Reporting to the Contracts Manager and working closely with the Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee on‑site programme delivery, workmanship and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and monitor key stage programmes and maintain site security, hutting, hoardings and signboards.
• Take possession of the site, plan and coordinate trade activities, and manage 2‑3 gangs.
• Interpret drawings and specifications, issue directions to site personnel, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure method statements and risk assessments are completed for high‑risk activities.
• Secure necessary approvals (e.g., hoarding licence) and request outstanding information from the professional team.
• Implement environmental controls in line with the HSE plan and attend site, subcontractor and internal meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years’ experience in construction management with a national or regional contractor.
• Strong analytical, organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• First Aid at Work certification.
• IOSH or equivalent health & safety management training.
• Temporary Works & Excavation Safety competence.
• Permitting for live energy works.
• Working at Heights & Scaffolding qualification.
• Lifting & Cranage operations knowledge.
• Additional HSEQS training as required by site HSE plan.
