Class Teacher (Special Education)

About the role

As a Class Teacher at Manor Green School you will deliver high‑quality teaching to a small, mixed‑age class of students with complex special educational needs. You will lead a team of support staff, including a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, to ensure each pupil receives personalised academic, therapeutic and life‑skills support.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, deliver and assess lessons in line with the curriculum and individual education plans.
• Manage performance, training and development of the Higher Level Teaching Assistant.
• Collaborate with other teachers, therapists and external professionals to create a cohesive learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records, produce assessments, reports and progress updates for families.
• Promote enrichment activities, life‑skills development and therapeutic learning support.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
• Experience or strong interest in teaching students with special educational needs (SEN).
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
• Commitment to safeguarding and completing DBS checks.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEN teaching strategies and inclusive classroom practices.
