Clean Water Industry Operative

About the role

Claret Civil Engineering Ltd is seeking a reliable Clean Water Industry Operative to support maintenance of clean water assets across Bury St. Edmunds and the wider East Anglia region. The role is site‑based and involves practical work on reservoirs, water towers, booster stations, tanks, pumps and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, repair and operational tasks on clean water assets safely and to company standards.
• Assist with excavation, reinstatement, installation, cleaning, inspection and general upkeep of service reservoirs, water towers, booster stations, tanks, valves, hydrants and meters.
• Follow site‑specific risk assessments, method statements, permits and hygiene controls.
• Maintain high standards of water hygiene, health & safety, environmental protection and quality workmanship.
• Operate tools, plant and equipment safely; report defects, hazards or near‑misses promptly.
• Complete site records, photographs, job sheets and asset information accurately.
• Work collaboratively within a small team and communicate professionally with supervisors, clients and the public.
• Participate in overtime, standby, emergency response or out‑of‑hours work as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in the clean water industry, utilities, civil engineering, construction or asset maintenance.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, quality, environmental standards and water hygiene.
• Ability to work safely around operational clean water assets and follow safe systems of work.
