Clerk of Works – Quality Assurance for HMP Glasgow Project

About the role

We are seeking a Clerk of Works to join the HMP Glasgow construction team in Royston, Glasgow. The role is site‑based, full‑time (42.5 hours per week) and offers flexibility on working hours.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and Scottish Building Regulations.
• Inspect workmanship across all disciplines, identify defects or non‑compliance using digital quality tools.
• Verify materials and support the management of Inspection & Test Plans to maintain quality benchmarks.
• Maintain accurate records including daily diaries, photographic evidence and quality reports.
• Support commissioning verification and assist with snagging during hand‑over stages.

Required profile

• Experience as a Clerk of Works, Quality Inspector or Site Manager on large commercial or complex building projects.
• Strong technical understanding of structural, façade, MEP and fire‑compliance disciplines.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, technical documents and BIM information confidently.
• Familiarity with Scottish Building Standards, UK construction regulations and digital quality systems.
• Holder of a CSCS card and a full driving licence (ICWCI membership and IOSH/NEBOSH qualifications desirable).
