Client Broker (FTC) - Commercial & Schemes

About the role

Howden's Commercial & Schemes team is looking for a Client Broker to help deliver an excellent, comprehensive service in the administration of renewals and mid-term changes for clients in charity and not-for-profit organisations. The role is on a fixed-term contract, based in the Cheltenham office, ideally with 2-3 days per week on site.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in achieving Group/Division client retention targets through good service.
• Liaise with the Account Executive on renewal strategy, attend client meetings and act on meeting points.
• Obtain renewal terms and present them to the client.
• Produce and issue professional summaries and reports using Howden templates, and issue renewal documentation in line with contract certainty.
• Ensure premiums are collected before cover starts and process adjustments, including notifying insurers and collecting additional premiums.
• Handle queries by post or telephone professionally, record information and correspondence on Acturis and use the diary system.
• Prioritise work, refer queries outside your authority to senior staff and liaise with other branches and Group Resources.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 year's experience giving specialist advice in the insurance market.
• Working knowledge of the main classes of general insurance, the CII's Code of Ethics and GDPR.
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Cert CII desirable.

• Technical insurance skills, assessed by regular in-house testing.
• Accuracy, attention to detail and ability to process work quickly and meet deadlines.
• Negotiation and broking skills, and excellent oral and written communication.
• Ability to gather and analyse client information and adapt to their level of understanding.
