Client Portfolio Manager - Personal Tax

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Personal Tax professional to join a well‑established accountancy practice in London. As a Client Portfolio Manager you will own a diverse portfolio of individual, landlord and high‑net‑worth clients, providing proactive tax advice and ensuring compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, including individuals, company directors, sole traders and high‑net‑worth individuals.
• Prepare and review Self‑Assessment, partnership and trust tax returns, as well as P11D and PSA calculations.
• Calculate tax liabilities, advise on payments, and identify tax planning opportunities such as capital gains, residency and inheritance tax.
• Handle HMRC correspondence, enquiries and client queries efficiently.
• Collaborate with partners, accounts and outsourcing teams to gather information and meet deadlines.
• Support and train junior team members and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a personal tax portfolio within a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of Self‑Assessment, Capital Gains Tax and overall personal tax compliance.
• Experience dealing with HMRC enquiries and complex tax matters.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical tax issues in plain English.
• Qualified by experience or holding ATT/CTA qualification (preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency with tax software, preferably TaxCalc.
