About the role
The Clinical Lead Orthotist will provide clinical leadership for the delivery of orthotic services across North Wales. You will shape practice standards, advise senior management and develop a competency framework for orthotic practitioners.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain clinical standards in line with best practice.
- Provide clinical advice to the organisation, particularly to the Head of Podiatry and Orthotics.
- Create and implement a competency‑based framework for staff working with orthotic devices.
- Deliver skills‑based training and mentorship to practitioners.
- Conduct critical analysis, appraisal and synthesis of current research and literature to ensure expert knowledge.
- Travel between sites as required to support service delivery.
Required profile
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Extensive experience working within orthotics.
- Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner.
- Desirable: post‑registration experience, proven leadership of a team, experience of audit or innovation projects.
- Welsh language skills are desirable but not mandatory.
Required skills
- Orthotic device assessment and fitting.
- Development of clinical standards and competency frameworks.
- Research appraisal and evidence synthesis.
- Leadership and training of clinical staff.
