Clinical Nurse Specialist (Fixed Term, 18 months)

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist position is a fixed‑term role (18 months) within NHS Scotland, working Thursday and Friday, 08:30‑17:00. You will join a highly skilled nursing family, providing specialist clinical care and leadership while supporting the NHS Lothian Nursing & Midwifery Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist nursing care to patients and service users.
• Lead and mentor nursing staff, fostering a compassionate and inclusive environment.
• Develop, implement and evaluate care plans and clinical pathways.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Education and Training team to support education, induction and preceptorship programmes.
• Contribute to quality improvement, safety initiatives and evidence‑based practice.
• Ensure compliance with NHS policies, values and strategic objectives.
