Clinical Psychologist – Band 8

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Band 8 Clinical Psychologist to join a Secure Children’s Home in Exeter. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to support children and young people with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct specialist psychological assessments and develop formulations for children and adolescents with complex presentations.
• Deliver evidence‑based psychological interventions, including trauma‑informed approaches, tailored to individual needs.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary care planning, risk management and safeguarding strategies.
• Provide consultation, guidance and reflective practice sessions to residential care staff and partner agencies.
• Produce high‑quality clinical reports and maintain accurate case records in line with professional standards.
• Support service development, staff training and clinical governance initiatives.

Required profile

• Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent recognised qualification).
• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Significant post‑qualification experience working with children and young people with complex psychological needs.
• Experience in secure settings, forensic services, CAMHS, youth justice or residential care is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma‑informed practice and risk assessment.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and the right to work in the UK.
