CNC Grinding Machinist – Aerospace Manufacturing

About the role

We are partnering with a leading aerospace manufacturer to hire an experienced CNC Grinding Machinist. The role involves operating high‑precision CNC grinding equipment to produce aerospace components to exact tolerances in a supportive, safety‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, program and operate CNC surface and cylindrical grinding machines.
• Interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings and process specifications.
• Produce components meeting strict tolerance and surface‑finish requirements.
• Perform in‑process inspections using micrometres, comparators and other precision measuring tools.
• Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning and tool changes on machines.
• Complete accurate production and quality documentation.
• Follow health & safety and quality assurance procedures.
• Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure design intent is met.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating CNC grinding machines in a precision engineering or aerospace setting.
• Strong understanding of geometric tolerancing and machining best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings confidently.
• Familiarity with AS9100 standards is preferred.
• High attention to detail and a quality‑focused mindset.
• Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering / CNC Machining (preferred).
