CNC Miller – Day or Night Shifts Available

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced CNC Miller Programmer/Setter to join its precision engineering team in Chelmsford. The permanent role offers the flexibility of day or night shifts and involves working on components for scientific, communications, aerospace and medical sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate 3‑, 4‑ and 5‑axis CNC milling machines according to customer specifications.
• Manufacture precision components for a range of industrial sectors, ensuring tight tolerances and high‑quality finishes.
• Carry out first‑off inspections and verify accuracy before full production runs.
• Support the introduction of new projects and provide cover for the milling team as needed.
• Troubleshoot machining issues in collaboration with colleagues.
• Maintain a clean, organised work area and adhere to health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience programming and setting CNC milling machines (3‑, 4‑ and 5‑axis).
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software, preferably Hypermill.
• Strong ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and use own initiative.
