CNC Milling Machine Operator & Setter (2 positions)

About the role

We are seeking experienced CNC Milling Machine Operators & Setters to join our permanent production team in Manchester. The role involves operating and setting Mazak 3 & 5 Axis CNC machines or Proturn lathe to produce high‑tolerance components for a range of specialist mechanical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and set Mazak 5‑axis and 3‑axis CNC machines, or X, Y, Z Proturn Lathe/QT250.
• Interpret engineering drawings, documents, manuals and technical instructions.
• Produce a wide range of precision components to high tolerance.
• Utilise Mazatrol online programming (predominantly offline fed) where required.

Required profile

• Time‑served mechanical engineer with extensive machine‑shop experience.
• Completion of a recognised apprenticeship (preferably composite craft/mechanical technician) or equivalent experience.
• Working knowledge of CNC controls such as Mazak Matrix2, Mazak Smooth X, Heidenhain and Siemens (advantageous).
• Ability to obtain UK security clearance for military/defence projects.
• Team player with good work ethic and flexibility for shift and overtime work.

Required skills

• Mazak 3‑axis and 5‑axis CNC operation.
• Proturn Lathe and QT250 operation.
• Mazak Matrix2 and Mazak Smooth X controls.
• Heidenhain and Siemens CNC controls.
• Autodesk/Delcam Power Mill or Hyper Mill programming.
• Offline CNC programming capability.
• High‑tolerance machining techniques.
