CNC Milling Setter Operator (5 Axis)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Milling Setter Operator to join a well‑established manufacturer in Chelmsford. You will work with advanced 5‑axis machines to produce precision‑engineered components to exact specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Set, program and operate CNC milling machines.
• Operate Doosan, Brother and Matsuura 5‑axis equipment.
• Manufacture components according to production plans and customer requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Carry out first‑off and in‑process inspections.
• Set tooling, adjust offsets and optimise machine performance.
• Complete route cards and quality documentation.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, safe and efficient working environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CNC Milling Setter/Operator (5‑axis desirable).
• Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering drawings.
• Experience using measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers and calipers.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Team‑oriented approach with the ability to work independently.
• Experience with CNC turning or sliding‑head machines (e.g., Nakamura, Citizen) is a plus.
