CNC Milling Setter Operator (5‑Axis) – Chelmsford

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established manufacturer in Chelmsford seeking an experienced CNC Milling Setter Operator to set, program and run 5‑axis machines in a high‑quality production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set, program and operate CNC milling machines (Doosan, Brother and Matsuura 5‑axis)
• Manufacture components according to production plans and customer specifications
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
• Perform first‑off and in‑process inspections
• Set tooling, adjust offsets and optimise machine performance
• Complete route cards and quality documentation
• Support continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain a clean, safe and efficient work area

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CNC Milling Setter/Operator (5‑axis experience desirable)
• Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering drawings
• Experience using measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers and calipers
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Team‑oriented with the ability to work independently
• Candidates with CNC turning or sliding head experience (e.g., Nakamura, Citizen) are also considered
