CNC Turner/Programmer Setter Operator – Swindon

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is based in Swindon and offers early or late shift patterns. Candidates must hold a valid driving licence and have their own transport. Salary will be set according to experience.

Key responsibilities

• Support the CNC turning area and ensure safe, efficient operation of multi‑axis CNC turning centres.
• Program, set up and operate CNC turning machines to produce components to engineering specifications.
• Create new CNC programs and modify existing ones based on drawing requirements.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions accurately.
• Perform first‑off inspections and ongoing in‑process quality checks.
• Select, maintain and manage cutting tools, fixtures and equipment for maximum efficiency.
• Complete production documentation and ensure correct product identification and movement.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and comply with health & safety procedures.
• Provide cover for other manufacturing areas when required.

Required profile

• Apprenticeship‑trained or qualified in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using a range of measuring equipment and maintaining high quality standards.
• Strong problem‑solving attitude and proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
