College Protection Officer

About the role
Brighton College is looking for dedicated College Protection Officers to join its security team. You will be one of the first points of contact for visitors, staff, pupils and on‑site residents, providing a safe and welcoming environment across the campus.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver five‑star customer service to all visitors, governors, staff and pupils.
- Maintain a visible security/concierge presence at the front of house and throughout college properties.
- Monitor campus for potential intruders, conduct random patrols and respond to alarms (fire, burglary, etc.).
- Man the security lodge when not deployed elsewhere and control traffic at designated times.
- Assist with event coordination, liaising with organisers, external clients and college personnel.
- Unlock and secure entrances, exits and buildings according to schedule.
- Prepare basic investigations and write incident reports.
- Respond to emergency calls from staff, pupils and the health centre.
- Complete mandatory SIA Door Supervisor training if not already qualified.
Required profile
- Proven customer‑service experience.
- Genuine interest in working within a school environment.
- Excellent communication and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Friendly, approachable demeanor with strong courtesy and tact.
- Team‑oriented mindset and good IT proficiency.
- Current SIA Door Supervisor licence is desirable but not mandatory.
