Commercial Administrator

About the role

We are seeking an organised and proactive Commercial Administrator to join our growing team in Bedford. The role supports the commercial department within a fast‑paced construction environment, handling payroll, contract variations and payment reconciliation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with all commercial functions within the department.
• Process subcontractor payroll accurately and on time.
• Price and process contract variations.
• Process purchaser extras and maintain accurate records.
• Update and maintain subcontractor retention schedules.
• Enter variations and purchaser extras into monthly valuations.
• Reconcile payments and investigate discrepancies.
• Chase outstanding payments and maintain payment records.
• Update and maintain subcontractor information using Priceworx software.

Required profile

• Previous administration experience, preferably in construction.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication skills and ability to build relationships with colleagues and subcontractors.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with Priceworx software (training provided if not already known).

What we offer

• Competitive salary of £30,000 per annum.
• Standard Monday‑Friday schedule (8 am‑5 pm) with a one‑hour lunch break.
