Commercial Complex Claims Handler

About the role

This position is for a Commercial Complex Claims Handler based in Bristol, working three days a week on‑site in a hybrid model. You will join a growing specialist insurer and manage a diverse portfolio of complex commercial claims while supporting the development of an in‑house claims function.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of complex claims across Professional Indemnity, Accident & Health, and Construction All Risk.
• Oversee relationships with third‑party administrators, panel firms and other service providers.
• Handle referrals above delegated authority and contribute to resolution strategies for high‑value matters.
• Collaborate closely with underwriters, actuaries, finance teams and senior leadership.
• Support claims process improvement initiatives and future function development.
• Produce clear reporting, reserve recommendations and claims analysis for business decisions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in claims handling.
• Experience in at least one of: Professional Indemnity, Accident & Health, or Construction All Risk.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with TPAs, brokers, panel firms or outsourced claims providers is advantageous.
