Commercial Lawyer – Global Risk Team (London)

About the role
A prestigious U.S. law firm is expanding its global Risk team in London and seeks an experienced Commercial Lawyer. The role offers high visibility, working closely with partners, business services leaders and international colleagues on a broad range of client‑facing contractual and risk matters.
Key responsibilities
- Review, draft and negotiate client‑facing agreements such as engagement terms, outside counsel guidelines, confidentiality agreements and framework arrangements.
- Advise partners and stakeholders on contractual obligations, commercial considerations and risk‑related issues arising from client requirements.
- Assess legal, regulatory and operational risks within client agreements and provide commercially focused solutions.
- Support client compliance requests, audits and due‑diligence exercises, coordinating responses with relevant business teams.
- Collaborate with Finance, Business Development, Information Security and other support functions to ensure effective implementation of client commitments.
- Develop and maintain contract templates, guidance materials, playbooks and internal processes to enhance consistency and efficiency.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the delivery, scalability and effectiveness of commercial legal support across the firm.
Required profile
- Qualified lawyer in England & Wales with experience in private practice or an in‑house legal function.
- Strong background in reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and client terms.
- Excellent judgement, ability to identify risk and deliver pragmatic, business‑oriented advice.
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills, confident engaging with senior lawyers, business teams and clients.
- Highly organised with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative approach with a proven ability to build relationships across international teams.
Required skills
- Qualified solicitor status in England & Wales.
- Expertise in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
- Risk assessment and mitigation in client agreements.
