Commercial Manager - Insurance

About the role

The John Lewis Partnership is recruiting a Commercial Manager for its insurance line of business, based at the London head office in Pimlico. You will lead a cross-functional team delivering customer and commercial outcomes, using your background in reporting and data analytics to develop data strategies, monitor performance, identify trends and communicate insights to product, marketing and operations. The aim is excellent customer experience and sustainable, profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional team and be directly accountable for P&L delivery, turning data insights into strategies for product, pricing and commercial direction
• Develop robust data strategies, monitor performance and identify key trends
• Ensure positive customer outcomes and alignment with Consumer Duty regulations
• Foster a positive, outcome-focused culture of feedback and continuous improvement
• Manage stakeholder relationships with insurers internally and externally
• Deliver ad hoc projects supporting positive customer and commercial outcomes

Required profile

• Significant experience managing P&L, including forecasting, financial planning, cost efficiency and revenue driving
• Proven ability to manage, influence and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to work in a large, complex matrixed structure with multiple reporting lines
• Desirable: experience within regulatory requirements, contract management and a background in financial services

Required skills

• Data reporting and analysis, tracking KPIs and presenting to non-technical audiences
• Risk identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring
• Communication of complex ideas clearly and persuasively

What we offer

• Permanent contract, 35 hours per week, hybrid working (about one day a week in the office)
• Salary of £55,500 to £84,600 per year depending on skills and experience
• Night premium of £5.25 per hour for work between 22:00 and 06:00
