Commercial Manager – Mechanical & Electrical Projects

About the role

A leading building services contractor in Manchester is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to oversee the commercial performance of mechanical and electrical (M&E) projects. The role combines strong contractual knowledge with hands‑on commercial leadership to protect margins and ensure successful delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial activities across M&E projects, managing cost control, risk and margin protection.
• Administer NEC and JCT contracts, handling variations, claims and change control.
• Produce cost‑value reports, forecasts and financial updates for senior leadership.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiation and supply‑chain management.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure commercial compliance and timely delivery.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor in the M&E contracting or building services sector.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC and JCT contract forms.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen with a track record of improving project profitability.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
