Commercial Real Estate Lawyer

About the role
A well‑established London property business is seeking a commercially‑minded Commercial Real Estate Lawyer to join its in‑house legal team. You will support a diverse portfolio that includes commercial, residential and hotel assets, delivering pragmatic, business‑focused advice on acquisitions, disposals, leasing and disputes.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on commercial real estate transactions such as property acquisitions, disposals, asset purchases and corporate acquisitions.
- Support property development and investment projects from a legal perspective.
- Draft, negotiate and review commercial leases and related documentation.
- Manage landlord and tenant matters, including disputes and real‑estate litigation.
- Negotiate and draft supplier, commercial and operational contracts.
- Provide clear, commercially‑focused legal advice to senior stakeholders.
- Oversee external advisers to ensure cost‑effective handling of legal matters.
- Assist with ad‑hoc legal projects across the wider property portfolio.
Required profile
- Qualified Solicitor with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience in commercial real estate.
- Proven track record in commercial property transactions, sales and acquisitions.
- Experience handling landlord and tenant matters, lease negotiations and property disputes.
- Strong ability to draft and negotiate commercial contracts.
- Commercially astute, pragmatic and able to balance legal risk with business objectives.
- Excellent communicator with relationship‑building skills.
- Organised, detail‑oriented and comfortable managing a varied workload in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience in hotel or hospitality property matters is advantageous but not essential.
Required skills
What we offer
- Salary of £80,000–£90,000 per year, dependent on experience.
- Hybrid working – four days in the Canary Wharf office, one day remote.
- 25 days annual leave plus the option to purchase up to five additional days.
- Private healthcare and employer pension contribution starting at 5% and rising to 10%.
