Commercial Solicitor – Agricultural & Planning Law

About the role

This position offers an experienced Commercial Solicitor the chance to join a well‑established law firm in Hull, focusing on agricultural, planning and development matters. You will manage a varied commercial caseload and provide strategic legal advice to a broad client base.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end commercial matters, from instruction to completion.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements.
• Advise on business sales, acquisitions, shareholder, partnership and corporate restructuring agreements.
• Provide specialist legal advice to farms, estates, rural businesses and landowners.
• Support clients on land development, planning agreements and commercial aspects of development projects.
• Assist with joint ventures, business expansion and investment transactions.
• Liaise with developers, accountants, surveyors and other professional advisers.
• Maintain client relationships and contribute to business development activities.
• Stay updated on changes to company, commercial and planning legislation.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members where appropriate.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
• 4‑5 years post‑qualification experience in company commercial law.
• Experience advising agricultural or rural business clients.
• Knowledge of planning and development work is highly advantageous.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and client‑care abilities.
• Ability to independently manage a busy caseload.
• Commercially minded with proactive problem‑solving skills.
