Commercial Solicitor – Leeds

About the role

We are seeking a Commercial Solicitor to join The Legists in Leeds. The role involves providing high‑quality legal advice to government departments and commercial clients, handling a varied caseload across litigation, advisory and commercial matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise ministers, departmental officials and commercial clients on legal issues, ensuring risk‑aware guidance.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts and other legal documents.
• Manage a caseload that may include litigation, regulatory and advisory work.
• Collaborate with other legal professionals across government departments.
• Stay updated on relevant legislation, including EU and employment law.

Required profile

• A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive.
• Ability to think strategically and creatively about legal problems.
• Strong analytical judgement and the confidence to provide balanced advice.
• Open‑minded, impartial and able to work collaboratively at pace.

Required skills

• Commercial law knowledge.
• Litigation and advisory experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
