Commodity Buyer – Manufacturing Procurement

About the role

We are partnering with a leading manufacturing organisation to find a Commodity Buyer who will take ownership of a specialist commodity area. You will manage key supplier relationships and ensure materials are delivered to support production requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage supplier performance, relationships and delivery commitments.
• Raise and manage purchase orders in line with business demand.
• Ensure on‑time delivery of materials and components.
• Maintain accurate procurement data within SAP/ERP systems.
• Support cost‑effective procurement while maintaining quality and service levels.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering and Production teams to meet operational objectives.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Buyer, Commodity Buyer, Purchasing or Procurement role.
• Background in manufacturing, engineering, automotive, aerospace, marine or other technical industries.
• Strong supplier management and negotiation abilities.
• CIPS qualification or working towards it (desirable).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
