Communications Officer (Media & PR)

About the role

The Communications Officer will join the Natural History Museum’s press team, supporting high‑profile campaigns, temporary exhibitions and new galleries as part of the NHM150 programme. You will work closely with the Commercial, Internal and Wildlife Photographer of the Year communications managers to protect and promote the museum’s reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Generate media coverage for scientific research, exhibitions and strategic projects.
• Draft press releases, press packs, Q&As, statements and respond to enquiries under tight deadlines.
• Develop and present communications plans, collaborating with Marketing, Digital and Social Media teams.
• Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external media contacts.
• Provide 24/7 press office coverage and supervise filming with experts on and off site.

Required profile

• Minimum 2‑3 years of press or media relations experience.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce high‑quality content quickly.
• Proactive, adaptable and able to manage reactive enquiries and issues.
