Compliance Manager

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Compliance Manager to join a growing legal firm in Cheltenham. Working 3‑4 days a week on‑site, you will lead the firm’s compliance function, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulatory frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the firm’s compliance framework covering SRA standards, AML legislation, GDPR and FCA requirements.
• Supervise and coach the Compliance Administrator, handling performance management.
• Oversee client onboarding, including conflict checks, risk assessments and file opening procedures.
• Review and update compliance policies, regulatory registers and firm‑wide risk registers.
• Conduct regular file audits to verify regulatory compliance and quality standards.
• Manage AML processes – customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, ongoing monitoring and support the MLRO with SAR preparation.
• Collaborate with the Head of Risk & Compliance to implement regulatory changes and strategic risk initiatives.
• Produce quarterly compliance reports for the Management Board, highlighting trends and improvement areas.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Compliance Manager within a law firm.
• Deep knowledge of SRA standards, Solicitors Accounts Rules, AML and FCA regulations.
• Strong analytical ability and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication and relationship‑building across all business levels.
