Construction Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Buyer to join a leading construction firm in Luton. In this role you will manage the end‑to‑end procurement process, ensuring that all materials, tools and services are sourced efficiently, cost‑effectively and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage purchasing of construction materials, tools and services from requisition to delivery.
• Identify, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal contracts and pricing.
• Monitor market trends and supplier performance to inform purchasing decisions.
• Collaborate with project managers to define material specifications and delivery schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing and supplier information.
• Ensure timely delivery of goods to project sites to keep schedules on track.
• Review procurement policies regularly to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Resolve any procurement‑related issues or discrepancies.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist within the construction industry.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
• Solid understanding of construction materials, pricing and procurement processes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with procurement software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite.
