Construction Solicitor (Contentious & Non-Contentious) – 1-2 yrs PQE

About the role

This position is for a qualified solicitor with 1‑2 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) specialising in both contentious and non‑contentious construction matters. You will join a growing team that advises a diverse client base, including housebuilders, developers, contractors and high‑net‑worth individuals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage disputed accounts, time and delay claims, and issues relating to workmanship, materials and professional negligence.
• Draft, review and negotiate building contracts, principally JCT contracts, as well as professional terms of engagement, collateral warranties, parent company guarantees and performance bonds.
• Handle your own files independently while supporting senior colleagues on larger, complex transactions.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and other stakeholders to provide clear legal advice and achieve favourable outcomes.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with 1‑2 years PQE in construction law.
• Experience of both contentious and non‑contentious construction work.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of JCT contracts and other standard construction agreements.
• Familiarity with drafting collateral warranties, guarantees and performance bonds.
• Understanding of dispute resolution processes in the construction sector.
