Consultant in Elderly Medicine – Hayes Ward (8.75 PA)

About the role

This full‑time consultant position offers the chance to join a leading Elderly Medicine department within The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will work in the pioneering Frailty Assessment Unit and manage patients on Hayes Ward, a 30‑bedded general Elderly Medicine ward.

Key responsibilities

• Lead clinical care for 15 in‑patients on Hayes Ward and support a colleague on the same ward.
• Provide acute front‑door frailty assessment in an 8‑bedded unit, coordinating pathways from community, LAS and ED.
• Participate in the on‑call emergency medical rota (approximately 1:21), including overnight home on‑call and daytime on‑site ward rounds.
• Undertake service development, audit, and personal CPD activities as part of the allocated SPA time.
• Maintain administrative duties related to patient care and departmental operation.

Required profile

• Qualified medical doctor with registration to practise in the UK.
• Experience in Geriatric/Elderly Medicine, preferably with exposure to frailty services.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and develop clinical expertise.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and revalidation requirements.
