Consultant Psychiatrist – Gender Identity Service (Part‑time)

About the role

The NHS Lothian is recruiting a part‑time Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Gender Identity Service at the Chalmers Sexual Health Centre. This permanent 32‑hour per week position will replace the retiring lead psychiatrist and provide continuity of specialist care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist psychiatric expertise for patients accessing gender identity healthcare within the clinic.
• Support the management of a growing patient cohort and help reduce waiting lists.
• Conduct five face‑to‑face clinics each week, with protected time for training and education.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including specialist nurses, GPs, psychologists, endocrinologists, pharmacists and speech‑and‑language therapists.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration, a licence to practise and eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
• Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT, or within six months of confirmed entry, or an awarded Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR).
• Non‑UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
