Consultant Psychiatrist – Gender Identity Service (Part‑time)

About the role

This part‑time consultant position (20 hours per week) is based in the Chalmers Gender Identity Clinic, part of the Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health Service. The role provides specialist psychiatric expertise for gender identity care and supports the transition of responsibilities from the retiring lead psychiatrist.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist psychiatric assessments and treatment within the Gender Identity Service.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings with nurses, GPs, psychologists, endocrinologists, pharmacists and other professionals.
• Contribute to service improvement, research, teaching and leadership activities as appropriate.
• Maintain a clinical workload of five face‑to‑face clinics per week with allocated time for training and education.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise and eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
• Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT (or within six months of entry) for UK‑trained doctors, or equivalent training for non‑UK applicants.
