Consumer Product Lawyer

About the role

As a Consumer Product Lawyer within BT’s Consumer division, you will provide pragmatic legal advice to support the launch and management of new products, propositions and advertising campaigns across BT, EE and Plusnet. You will work closely with product, marketing and regulatory teams to ensure compliance while enabling growth.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver legal advice on product, proposition and advertising projects, ensuring risk‑aware decision‑making.
• Collaborate with Consumer Proposition, Product and Marketing stakeholders to support product development and launch.
• Maintain a central knowledge repository of templates, playbooks and risk assessments.
• Assist in evaluating AI tools to automate routine legal queries and improve efficiency.
• Review dispute documentation and advise on small‑claims litigation and consumer law risk.
• Build strong relationships across Marketing, Digital, Consumer Legal, Group Legal and Regulatory Affairs.
• Provide clear, concise legal advice and risk‑based reporting for senior stakeholders.
• Participate in horizon‑scanning to anticipate changes in consumer law and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales (or equivalent jurisdiction) with post‑qualification experience.
• Strong knowledge of the telecommunications sector and its regulatory environment, or experience in another regulated industry.
• Proven ability to deliver commercial‑focused legal advice in a fast‑moving environment.
