Control System Design Engineer – Full‑time, Droitwich Spa

About the role

Join Armstrong Fluid Technology as a Control System Design Engineer, working on cutting‑edge fluid‑flow solutions in Droitwich Spa. You will manage design revisions, support customers, and ensure traceability across the engineering change process.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Design Authority for controls engineering projects, promoting shared standards and continuous improvement.
• Design and develop control panel hardware, electrical schematics and control system software using industry‑standard tools.
• Produce and review sequences of operation, specifications, BOMs and technical documentation.
• Manage design revisions, engineering change control and maintain accurate traceability.
• Attend client and internal design review meetings and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing and support Site Acceptance Testing and commissioning.
• Support New Product Introduction, DFMA workshops, value engineering and product standardisation initiatives.
• Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, manage NCR process and ensure health‑safety compliance.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Control Systems, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in industrial control systems, control panel design and automation solutions.
• Strong understanding of electrical control systems, schematics, PLCs, HMIs and associated technologies.
• Experience with engineering change control, BOM management and manufacturing documentation.
• Full UK driving licence and permanent UK residency.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical) and other engineering tools.
• Knowledge of PLC programming and HMI configuration.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001).
• Project management and organisational abilities.
