Cook – Residential Children’s Home

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cook to join The Bungalow Children’s Home in Eastbourne. You will plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals for young residents and staff while adhering to strict food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook fresh, balanced meals daily.
• Plan menus that meet dietary requirements and preferences.
• Manage food ordering, stock control and kitchen supplies.
• Receive and check deliveries.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety regulations.
• Complete required kitchen records and documentation.
• Undertake routine kitchen cleaning and equipment maintenance.

Required profile

• Proven experience preparing and cooking meals independently.
• Ability to produce high‑quality, nutritious dishes.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling.
• Experience with stock control and budgeting for orders.
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Understanding of health and safety in a catering setting.
• Basic literacy and numeracy.
