Corporate Solicitor / Legal Director (Education Sector)

About the role

This senior position sits within a specialist education practice, advising independent schools, charities and education groups on complex corporate transactions and governance matters. You will act as a trusted legal adviser, helping clients navigate acquisitions, disposals, mergers and long‑term sustainability strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide counsel on acquisitions, disposals and strategic transactions for education organisations.
• Support charities and educational bodies with mergers, restructurings and collaborative arrangements.
• Advise boards, trustees and senior leadership on corporate governance and constitutional issues.
• Manage matters from inception through completion, working closely with the wider education team.
• Develop long‑term client relationships and identify cross‑selling opportunities.
• Represent the practice at networking events, seminars and thought‑leadership activities.
• Mentor and develop junior lawyers within the team.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years post‑qualification experience, preferably within the education sector.
• Demonstrated ability to lead corporate transactions confidently.
• Experience at Legal Director or Partner level, or readiness to step into that role.
• Commercial mindset with a focus on practical business advice.
• Strong interpersonal skills for engaging senior stakeholders.
