Cost Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Cost Accountant to join a fast‑growing finance function within a UK‑based agriculture and food production business. The role focuses on analysing production costs, monitoring margins and providing insight to improve operational efficiency and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse standard and actual product costs across manufacturing and operational processes.
• Monitor raw material, labour and overhead cost variances and produce regular reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and margin analysis for multiple business areas.
• Partner with operational teams to improve cost control and efficiency.
• Maintain and enhance costing systems, inventory valuation and bills of materials.
• Assist with month‑end reporting, including stock reconciliations and journal postings.
• Provide financial insight and decision support to senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) or strong equivalent background.
• Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing or operational environment.
• Strong analytical ability with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident communicator able to partner with non‑finance stakeholders.
