Costing Accountant

About the role

The Costing Accountant will lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive costing function within Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, providing senior management with clear insight into operational costs to support critical business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Produce Patient Level Information & Costing (PLICs) for internal use and mandatory national returns.
• Represent the Trust at regional and national costing forums.
• Collaborate closely with the Information Team to ensure high‑quality activity data.
• Develop productive relationships with operational managers to review and refine costing outputs.
• Enhance the PLICs system to support more efficient service delivery.
• Support the linkage between activity data and income under activity‑based contracts.
• Produce and interpret internal and external benchmarking information.
• Contribute to the integration of finance and activity information across the finance function.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with a proactive, detail‑oriented approach.
• Ability to work across disciplines and build relationships with operational teams.
• Highly numerate with strong analytical capabilities.
• Excellent IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
