Costing Technician

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Costing Technician to join a dynamic team in Hatfield. The role involves preparing accurate quotations for customer RFQs and collaborating with sales, technical services and purchasing departments.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse customer RFQs and determine technical requirements for quotations.
• Interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials, focusing on electrical components.
• Work with the Purchasing Department to obtain material pricing and lead times from suppliers.
• Select appropriate component specifications or approved alternatives, prioritising Group‑approved materials.
• Use ERP and specialised quoting software to generate costings and ensure they meet margin targets.
• Document all activities in line with the company’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015).
• Maintain strict attention to detail and meet all deadlines.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Understanding Bills of Materials and electrical component specifications.

• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management.
